Cybersecurity month 2026 – on LinkedIn – with stats!

October is the national cybersecurity month in many nations, Norway included. I decided to use this month to post “awareness raising” material in Norwegian on LinkedIn on every workday at 7:30 am. If you like this, feel free to follow me or connect on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hakondo/.

Here’s the post introducing the intitative on September 30th:

This post is summarizing the results of that!

Key stats - 38 000 impressions, 323 engagements, 85 new followers.

I gained 85 new followers from 38 000 impressions, reaching 15 000 members. Engagement was at 323, including “likes”, “shares” and comments.

If we look at impressions, engagements and follower count over the period, we see that some of the posts gained more traction than others. AI is popular and drives engagement due to reach, whereas OT is more for the niche crowd, but has a higher engagement rate.

Looking at it as cumulative data shows that slow and steady works pretty well – the slope of engagement and impressions are quite well correlated, whereas follower growth is slower.

Cumulative growth from posting

If we categorize the posts, we see that engagement isn’t always following reach – OT cyber drives more engagement than others, AI has has the highest reach. The total number of engagements is highest for AI (due to higher reach) but in relative numbers OT is more engaging. Not so strange, as many of my contacts are OT security experts, whereas AI is popular among everybody. The LinkedIn algorithm likely helps spread this message too.

Looking at the top posts by engagement, we see that they are spread across topics in spite of AI driving the most views and OT the most (relative) engagement:

Did we succeed with inspiring people to make better security decisions? That’s hard to tell but 38 000 impressions of security positive messaging is more than I hoped for when starting this little project.

The text in this post and the LinkedIn posts was written by me, but this security aware pig was generated by Mistral AI, as well as the dashboard making the graphics for this post.
